At LCSS, we are registered social workers through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. We are professionally trained and experienced in a wide range of counselling services, mental health settings, and community agencies. If you’re interested in counselling, we’re here to help
Our Code of Ethics
At LCSS, social workers are registered through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). This is a regulatory body that sets out a Code of Ethics and specific required Standards of Practice, and we strictly abide by Principal V of the OCSWSSW, Code of Ethics.
Counselling services are entirely voluntary. You have the right at any time to decline any treatment recommendations and end your participation in our service. We do request that prior to beginning your sessions with us, you provide your informed consent to participate in counselling. This will be included in your initial client information form and kept confidential.
All services provided are completely confidential.
We fundamentally have an ethical responsibility to respect your right to privacy and will not share anything regarding your health, treatment, or information confided during our sessions with anyone else.
However, there are a few expectations in regards to confidentially where counsellors have a legal duty to take action.
When there is a disclosure or awareness of the suspected abuse or neglect of a child.
When there is imminent danger or serious threats of harm towards yourself or a third party
When a disclosure is ordered by a court or designated authority. I.E. in the event of a court subpoena or police services required disclosure.
